Flood evacuation exercise in Seaford

LEWES District Council is testing its evacuation and shelter arrangements as set out in the Seahaven Flood Plan on Thursday March 10.

Volunteer members of the public, many from flood risk areas across Newhaven and Seaford, will be collected or make their own way to an emergency evacuation centre set up at the Downs Leisure Centre, Seaford.

The council will test its evacuation arrangements in the sports hall and show displays, as well as provide helpful information.

Staff from East Sussex County Council, Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance, Environment Agency, Community Nurses, British Red Cross, Salvation Army and St John Ambulance, Seaford and Newhaven town councils will also be offering their support.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the rest centre event at the Downs Leisure Centre between 9.30am to 12.30pm to speak to the exhibitors for advice and information.
