ILLEGAL fly-tippers have been making life a misery for a local butcher.

Lew Howard has been plagued by the problem for some three years, with all manner of rubbish dumped in the car park behind his shop.

It has included engine parts, tyres, motor oil, beds, mattresses, and all manner of construction items.

The latest batch to be abandoned behind his premises in Springett Avenue, Ringmer, included industrial-sized tins of cooking oil and “half a kitchen”.

The fly-tippers visit under the cover of darkness, he said, with the latest act of vandalism occuring on Sunday night.

“It’s a disgusting eyesore and creates a bad impression for customers,” said Mr Howard. “It’s a health hazard and probably dangerous – those tins have sharp edges.

“Whoever is doing this is lazy and anti-social. If I catch them I’ll have the police out straight away.

Mr Howard said that over the years he had been forced to pay out some £200 of his own money to get the rubbish cleared away.
