Hastings’ very own flyball team is coming on in leaps and bounds, celebrating a howling success this year.
Following a break from competing in 2013, ‘Up and Running’ currently has four teams of dogs racing in events throughout the south east and Paul Harrison says they are pleased to have achieved such great success.
He said: “Under the guidance of team captain Kila Hardwick, the teams have gained a number of top three placings including two wins and teams achieving a second and third place in their divisions at the British championships in Derbyshire this August. The latest event in Maidstone saw another 1st place for the club and looks set to move their fastest team into division 2.”
Flyball is a fast paced sport where two teams of four dogs race head to head over a series of hurdles, collecting a ball and returning to their handler.
Formed in February 2012 Paul says Up and Running is a friendly, fun flyball team and train on a Sunday afternoon at Harrow Lane, adding: “Our club is ever-growing and we have a large variety of breeds training and competing under our name. We welcome any ball-fanatical dog that is happy to be around other dogs in an exciting and noisy environment.” Visit: http://upanrunning.webs.com/aboutus.htm.
