TRAMPOLINING, Zumba and gymnastics are some of the activities families can try out free during a Change 4 Life event at Seaford’s Downs Leisure.
On Sunday (June 24) residents can also try out their football and arts and crafts skills and watch demonstrations showing how to create healthy and easy meals without having to cook, as well as picking up samples and information about healthy eating and health awareness.
Supported by the Seaford and area schools, the Seaford Children’s Centre, Brighton & Hove Albion in the Community, Sainsbury’s and Wave Leisure, the day, from 10am to 1pm, offers an ideal opportunity to try out sessions.
Organisers said a variety of physical activity sessions offer a spontaneous and highly enjoyable way for children to be healthy.
They burn energy, strengthen their bones and reduce the risk of developing obesity. But there are plenty of other benefits too.
Team and individual activities build children’s confidence by encouraging them to interact with others, it helps develop their imagination – and it makes them feel good too.
They said nine out of ten of today’s children risk growing up with dangerous levels of fat in their bodies, which can lead to serious illnesses like heart disease, cancer and type II diabetes in later life.
