The glorious weather continued last weekend (May 20/21) in Hailsham as two of the High Street businesses united for a French themed morning of coffee and culture.
Last Sunday morning, Gallery North and Le Parisien joined together to host ‘A Café de Printemps’ which gave visitors a last chance to view the ‘Spring at Gallery North’ exhibition, as well as enjoy the delicious fresh coffee and a wide selection of pastries served at Le Parisien cafe.
The morning was a great success, with traditional French music by accordionist Anne Hunt creating a truly continental atmosphere.
After viewing the illustrations and paintings by local practicing artists, people were queuing outside the café door to sample the wares, relax on the terrace and soak up the Mediterranean sunshine.
One visitor commented: “It’s really great to see local businesses coming together and keeping the High Street full of life and energy.”
The Gallery and Le Parisien will be hosting more events together in the future and encourage other local businesses to do the same!
Gallery North is now closed for re-hanging but will reopen next Tuesday 31st May with “Spencer – Binks - Humphreys” - an exhibition of the latest abstract and figurative paintings by three of the gallery’s long standing artists.
