A FANTASTIC AFTERNOON was enjoyed by all and sundry at a Summer Fun Day held in Polegate.
Polegate Residents Association organised the event involving 40 stallholders raising funds for charitable work at St John’s Hall on June 11.
The weather held off and everyone enjoyed the garden, bouncy castle, crockery smash and all the games organised outside.
Smaller children enjoyed a fancy dress parade and the winners were given a certificate signed by the Mayor of Polegate, Cllr Tim Voyce.
‘Best boy’ went to Jacob and ‘Best girl’ went to Lilly.
Cllr Voyce said: “It was refreshing to see so many local organisations benefiting from the Fun Day, whether by raising funds or their profiles. The Residents Association committee put in a massive amount of hard work to create such a successful event and our thanks should go to them. Days like that demonstrate how wonderfully community spirited Polegate is and I hope the event will grow year on year.”
Stall holders inside the hall sold craft goods, bric brac, books and puzzles and gifts. Raffle prizes were kindly donated by local shops, attractions and businesses. There were homemade cakes, pastries and sandwiches, along with tea and coffee to refresh everyone.
Jayne Bigsby, one of the organisers, said: “Overall the afternoon was a great success and has brought together a lot of organisations who, through volunteering, are able to assist people in the Polegate community and else where.”
