There was no need to ask if there was ‘anyone for tennis’ last weekend.

The first open day of new courts at Uckfield’s Victoria Pleasure Ground was held on Sunday, March 1.

The event offered an exciting - and welcomed - opportunity to experience the new activities and facilities first hand. On offer was mini-tennis, energetic touch tennis and the dynamic auto-ball-server -while visitors won prizes for taking part.

Uckfield town mayor Cllr Ian Smith, chair of the environment and leisure committee Cllr Alan Whittaker and other members went along, together with dozens of parents and children.

The new courts will offer high quality coaching via Le Tennis. People were able to find out how to become a UTF member for £36 per household per year. There will be a more formal ribbon cutting ceremony in May once the courts are painted and the rebound wall installed. Find out more, including how to get a key fob, at:
