FANS OF The Hawth’s world performances and events in Crawley will be delighted to know the new Going Global programme features work celebrating diverse cultures and artists from around the world ready to book for the next six months.
Spokeswoman Lorraine Gould said: “This is all part of the theatre’s Going Global programme that will present, support and create work by artists from all over the world for the next two years supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
“Some of the highlights of the coming months include Stepping Out East (Feb 3) a showcase for British East Asian choreographers and dancers, the Ukranian, unique and utterly bonkers Plastic Fantastic (Feb 24), a family show with fast-paced physical comedy and buckets of mayhem.
There’s a theatrical collaboration between Britain and Portugal in Pertencia (Mar 24), a new play about a woman’s search for a sense of belonging, and music from the Senegalese Les Frères Guissé (Mar 25) whose close harmony and poetic lyrics are rooted in West Africa.
South African favourites Ladysmith Black Mambazo (June 15) return with special guest Muntu Valdo and the ‘Polish Pogues’ Warsaw Village Band (June 25) will be heading to Crawley for the very first time.”
