Evander Properties and John Lewis have staged a ground-breaking ceremony to formally mark the start of work on a new 50,000 sq ft online order fulfilment centre in Uckfield.
The development will be completed in July this year and is being constructed on a 3.82 acre site at Ashdown Business Park.
Once complete, the distribution hub will create 60 new jobs and will service John Lewis department stores in Kingston and Bluewater, and John Lewis ‘at homes’ in Croydon, Chichester, Tunbridge Wells and Horsham.
Evander director Neil Dickinson said: “This project is Evander’s third for the John Lewis Partnership and we are very proud to play a continuing part in the evolution of one of the country’s leading retailers.”
Doug Kay, from John Lewis, said: “Once complete, this development will allow us to support our customers in the East Sussex area with a wide range of services we have on offer.”
