Guided tour of Plumpton with local history

A guided tour and walk of Plumpton will take place on Thursday March 12 setting off from Plumpton Railway Station setting off at 10.45am.

There will be a four mile, two hour gentle walk around the countryside of Plumpton and the South Downs National Park.

There will be a brief history of the area to accompany the walk.

No need to book, this is a free walk so just turn up.

If you wish to join the tour meet at Plumpton Station at 10.30am.

Plumpton is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having a church and two mills.

Back then it was called, ‘Pluntune’, meaning town or settlement where plum trees grew.
