It was music and laughter all round at the charity-run TN22 Club, Hadlow Down, last Wednesday, February 12 when members and volunteers celebrated its first birthday in style.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious two course lunch cooked by the dedicated team of volunteers, followed by a fun musical quiz which involved singing along to some old favourites from the 40s and 50s.
One member said: “I’ve been coming to the Club since it started just over a year ago and I have seen it go from strength to strength. The quality and variety of the meals is just fantastic and I have enjoyed taking part in the activities, some of which I would never have considered without coming to the Club.”
Rachel Lewis, from Engage South East, the charity which runs the Club, added: “We started the TN22 Club with 21 members and 12 volunteers and we now have 49 members, 25 volunteers and just one part time member of staff. This is a fantastic example of what communities can do when they pull together. Our volunteers are so kind and generous with their time but it’s a two-way street as they tell us they get just as much out of volunteering as the club members benefit from their help.”
