The curtain has fallen on the seventh Hailsham Festival and organisers have hailed it a great success after thousands of people took part across the district.
The nine day festival saw an Americana music festival, Ballet Nimba African Dance Theatre, Beauty of Baroque, Three Minute Wonder Film competition, children’s workshops and activities and the annual Art Trail with work by local artists displayed in shops and outlets around the town. Festival Artistic Director Jenny West said organisers would like to thank everyone who took part in the event.
She said: “We had literally thousands of people involved this year and we’d like to thank everyone - the performers, organisers, sponsors and venues but most importantly our audiences, whose appreciation and support make the whole thing worthwhile.”
She added: “People can continue in the festival spirit by visiting Gallery North where The Festival Exhibition continues until Saturday October 26 featuring the bold, colourful paintings of renowned artist Stephen Pigott alongside an array of work by other selected local artists and photographers.”
But there is no rest for organisers as planning will begin for the 2014 festival in just a few weeks’ time.
Members of the public are invited to share their feedback on the 2013 festival at the festival website. You can visit the website at: www.hailshamartsfestival.com and anyone interested in joining the planning group is invited to email firstname.lastname@example.org
