Hailsham residents and businesses were enjoying the taste of success last week as the winners of this year’s Hailsham In Bloom competitions were notified of their success.
Hailsham In Bloom judges visited various gardens and short-listed nominees for the Best Kept Front Garden, Best Allotment, Best Business Premises (Small and Large) and Best Public House Display last week, awarding points for garden design, quality of floral displays, landscaping, biodiversity and cleanliness.
Passion and gardening knowledge were apparent with some gardens and business premises demonstrating a good selection of plants and colour combinations, evidence of recycling, and a tidy appearance all round.
The Deputy Mayor of Hailsham, and in bloom committee member Cllr Richard Grocock said judges were highly impressed with this year’s competition entries.
He said: “I am delighted with the quality and diversity of competition entrants this time round, which has far exceeded that of previous years. Taking part in the judging of entries has provided me with the opportunity to see for myself just how high the level of horticultural talent and dedication to local aesthetic and environmental improvement our community has to offer.”
“Well done to all competition entrants, especially the winners and runners-up. You should be proud of your achievements!”
