A Hailsham pupil has been crowned champion of a national writing competition.
Macey Miller, of Grovelands Community Primary School, has won the McCarthy and Stone competition which challenged pupils to write about an adventure they had had with their grandparents.
As the lucky winner of the competition, the Year Four pupil will be awarded £100 worth of book vouchers, and her school will receive £200 worth of vouchers for books or art materials for the pupils to share.
Julie Ward, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone South East, said “We’d like to congratulate budding-writer Macey on winning the competition, and say a huge well-done to all the pupils who entered.
“It was a pleasure reading tales about the lovely trips, days out and holidays the children had shared with their families, reflecting what we here at McCarthy and Stone believe, that grandparents form an integral part of the family and the local community as a whole.
“The great bond between Macey and her grandparents is evident in her story. We hope she has fun spending the vouchers and that the school and its pupils benefit from the supplies gained using the vouchers.”
