Hailsham senior councillor gets new fishing role

A SENIOR COUNCILLOR representing Hailsham has been elected into a new role looking out for fishing issues in the county.

County Cllr Roger Thomas was elected chairman of the new Sussex Inshore and Fisheries Conservation Authority at the first annual meeting of the group in County Hall, Lewes, on April 28.

Fisherman Tony Delahunty was elected vice-chairman.

Cllr Thomas said: “Previously we had both been Chairman & Vice Chairman of the Shadow Sussex IFCA. And previous to that we had been Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Sussex Sea Fisheries District Committee. The vote was unanimous in both cases.”
