Hailsham store plan deferred

A BOLD plan to build a new superstore in the centre of Hailsha has been put on hold.

Derbyshire County Council Pension Fund wants to build the 14,000sq ft store in the southern car park the pension fund owns in the Quintins Shopping Centre.

Wealden District Council’s planning committee south discussed the proposal on June 2.

A Wealden spokesman said: “Both applications (planning and conservation area consent) were deffered, to enable the applicant to reconsider the design of the proposed foodstore building, with reference to its position within the conservation area.”
