Hastings and St Leonards Chess Club

Club secretary Ken Lucas has continued his recent good form by winning the first of the club’s summer tournaments to finish, the Winser Trophy, a knock-out event: he overcame Mason Woodhams in the Final.

The club’s home friendly against GLC the other week was slightly marred by a no-show from each tea, which reduced the match to 6-a-side.

It was something of a stroll for the home team, who outgunned their opponents. Final score was 5-1. There were wins from John Sugden, Ken Lucas, Keith Hossack and Peter Bedborough, draws from Ray Brooks and Mason Woodhams.
