This evening (Friday, November 21), the Hastings and St Leonards RSPB Group have a talk on the local nature reserve at Rye Harbour by the manager, Dr Barry Yates.
Barry has been at the reserve for 30 years and during that time has overseen major changes to the reserve which is now part of the Sussex Wildlife Trust’s responsibility. He is a keen photographer and has some superb photographs of the various flora and fauna. The reserve is home to some very rare insects and plants as well as a multitude of bird species and he will talk about the changes during his time including the recent recreation of the saltmarsh which was a feature of the area before the war and which is an important habitat which has been severely reduced countrywide.
The venue is the Taplin Centre, Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards at 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome for an admission charge of £3 including refreshment.
