Hastings appeared to have escaped the worst of last night’s storms.

Both The Ridge and Bohemia Fire Stations reported no weather related incidents.

Hastings Borough Council had staff on standby but were not needed.

Kevin Boorman spokesman for Hastings Borough Council said: “We had staff on standby but we appeared to have escaped very lightly compared to other parts of the country.

Outside the borough, the A21 at Sedlescombe was closed this morning due to flooding.

The AA is reporting the A21 is closed in Sedlescombe at a section between the A28 and A2100 north of Battle due to flooding. The AA states it is due to re-open around 2pm.

The A21 at the junction with Marley Lane was closed last Thursday due to flooding (pictured).

Commuters using the rail line between Hastings and Charing Cross faced some rush hour disruption to the Southeastern train service to the capital.

A tree came down on the track between Orpington and Sevenoaks overnight.

The tree was removed around 10am and services returned to normal.
