The ongoing warm, dry weather has drawn welcome numbers of walkers in recent weeks, with a dozen members recently venturing to Berwick and Arlington reservoir.
There was also a well-attended breakfast ramble on August 16 around Wylands Fisheries, followed, as the term suggests, by a hearty breakfast.
Other recent destinations have included Pett, Roberstbridge, Brede, Udimore, Great Wigsell, Battle, Winchelsea, Rushlake Green, Lamberhurst, Rolvenden – quite a mixture and a credit to the walks convener.
Forthcoming walks will be centred on Brede, October 5 (five miles), Crowhurst, October 12 (five miles, postponed from February – flooding), East Dean and Seven Sisters, October 19 (eight miles).
On the social calendar is a Beetle Drive on October 11 and a fish ’n’ chips/quiz night on October 18. The club annual Christmas social will be in early December.
Membership currently costs £7 per year and new members are always welcome. Non-drivers can be accommodated on walks by pre-arrangement. There is also the chance to try a walk without commitment for a token fee 50p.
