TUESDAY’S Heathfield Business Expo was a huge success according to exhibitors and organisers.
Dozens of firms and organisations manned 45 stands in State Hall, Station Road and space for more had to be found at the last minute.
Co-organiser Barbara Hibbart told the Express: “We were really pleased.
This was the first time we have held a business exhibition and ten days beforehand all the stands were sold out. We were looking to showcase business in the town and we think we succeeded.”
The Co-op and Sainsbury’s came on stream to show off their food and organise cookery demonstrations.
There was also a range of small companies and many said this was the first time they had ‘gone public’ with their brands.
Barbara went on: “We were delighted with the general support which also included some larger organisations outside Heathfield such as Sussex Training and the Federation of Small Businesses.
“There was a great buzz in the hall and it’s estimated more than 400 people came along. Firms did business with each other and also with visitors so everyone benefited.”
The event was organised by a Heathfield Chamber of Commerce sub-committee manned by Barbara, Graeme Hird and State Hall manager Brian Arnott.
Parish Council chairman and district councillor Peter Newnham said: “I think it was a wonderful idea and extremely well attended.
“I’m really pleased with how it went. It would be good to see something like this going further and taking place more regularly. Well done to all concerned.”
