Heathfield pre-school can renovate play area thanks to supermarket donation

A VILLAGE pre-school is busy improving its outdoor play area thanks to support from a local supermarket.

Sheepsetting Pre-School in Heathfield has been given £500 by the town’s Sainsbury’s store. The money will be used to help renovate the play area.

The donation about about after Lana Wright and Rossella Cooke from the store visited the school for the Active Kids campaign. After chatting to the pre-school leader, they found out a recent Ofsted report had highlighted problems with the play area. Lana went back to the store, told them about the issue and applied for one of the store group’s Community Grants to help out. She was delighted the application was successful.

The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life.’ So for customers at Sainsbury’s, Heathfield buying a ‘Bag for Life’, are not just helping the environment, they are also making a direct contribution to their local community.

Heathfield store manager, Marco Sarro, said: “Our store is at the heart of the town and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about the Sheepsetting Lane Pre-school group we were really pleased to be able to help out.” Last year alone the Community Grants scheme provided £135k worth of donations, nominated by store managers and colleagues from stores nation wide.
