HEATHFIELD’S SCARECROW makers have vowed not to let a few vandals wreck their display at Saturday’s Cuckoo Fair.
Two of the scarecrows designed and made for the fair’s competition were deliberately vandalised over the weekend.
One was made by St Richard’s Pre-School and the other by Horam Scouts.
However repairs are being made and both will be exhibited in Cade Street from 10am-4pm.
Dame Heffle will ride to the fair where she releases the first cuckoo of Spring.
Then visitors can enjoy food and drink, a dog show, gypsy caravans, displays, sales tables, music and the famous Heffle Cuckoo Fair song sung by St Richard’s Primary School children.
The weather forecast is set fair and organisers are expecting hundreds of visitors to this magical day that heralds the new season.
All proceeds to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
