Builders, craftsmen, architects and designers across Sussex are being invited to showcase their work through a special awards scheme.

2015 marks the 17th anniversary of the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards which are designed to recognise and reward high quality conservation, restoration and good design of newly built projects.

The awards also aim to encourage the use of traditional skills and craft.

The Trust launched the awards last week at Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft which was a 2014 winner in the Public & Community category.

Trust chairman, Dr John Godfrey, a Deputy Lieutenant for West Sussex, said: “It has never been more relevant in 2015 to ‘design for the future and respect the past’ and we welcome entries for this year’s Awards by April 10, 2015.

“I am very grateful for all of our sponsors, winners and everyone who takes part”.

The winners of the 2015 Sussex Heritage Trust Awards will be announced on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 12.30pm at Pangean Old Barn, London Road, Pyecombe.

The winners each receive a hand crafted slate plaque which is to be attached to the winning building.

There may also be Highly Commended projects in any given category. All parties involved in the winning projects receive certificates.

They will be presented by the President of Sussex Heritage Trust, The Rt Hon Lord Egremont Deputy Lieutenant for West Sussex.

Sussex Heritage Trust is a registered charity established in 1977 to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural landscape of Sussex.

A wide variety of projects have received Awards over the years.

There are eight categories of Awards.

The judging team usually comprise a Sussex Heritage Trust Trustee, a professional in the appropriate field and a ‘lay person’ to ensure a balanced view.
