LOVERS of spectacular mountain ranges, and everyone interested in the interplay between images and words, will welcome a double event in Lewes this month.
David Lang, the well-known Lewes vet and naturalist, will present a slide show and talk reprising his treks over the past 25 years and more in the Himalayas, from the Pamirs in the west to Bhutan in the east.
Entitled “Himalayan Enchantment”, it will feature people, plant and animal life in addition to the awe-inspiring mountains themselves.
Radio 4 Book of the Week a few months ago featured “To a Mountain in Tibet” by Colin Thubron describing his recent trek out of Nepal to Mount Kailas in Tibet, the most holy mountain in the world.
Lewes resident David Nelson undertook the same journey a decade earlier and, with Colin’s permission, will display his own photos alongside brief quotations from the book.
This double event will be at Priory School, Lewes, at 7.45 p.m. on Thursday, June 16. Tickets are available for £7 in advance from 01273 475172 or £8 at the door. All proceeds will go to the Pestalozzi educational charity.
