A couple came back from a Christmas break to find their car stolen, along with jewellery and cash.

The pair returned home to Downsview Road in Seaford on December 30 to discover the silver Hyundai Getz had gone as well as other valuable items.

The offender(s) had forced entry to a door at the back of the property before swiping a number of items.

These included keys to the garage, a silver carriage clock worth £500, a unique small wooden box with a photo on the lid of Felixstowe, a silver watch chain with a medallion of Queen Victoria and £80 cash.

Also taken in the burglary was a gold watch, a tin containing gold sovereigns including a full sovereign and two half sovereigns, a metal box containing a silver cravat pin with a mosaic panel on it and two gold collar studs.

The burglary is thought to have taken place sometime between December 23 and December 30.

Acting Seaford Sergeant Chris Wright said, “It’s pretty desperate circumstances for the owners to come home from holiday after Christmas to discover they had been burgled.

“We’d be keen to hear from anyone who has any information and would urge people to get in touch, particularly anyone who saw any suspicious activity in this area at the time when the burglary is believed to have been committed.

“Police are particularly keen to recover the vehicle stolen from the address, and would encourage any sightings of a potentially abandoned silver coloured Hyundai Getz to be reported.”
