Ms Angela Lomanto, owner of Tall Pines Pets Retreat kennels and cattery, Horam, appeared before Brighton magistrates on December 4 who fined her £1,000 and ordered her to pay £5,000 towards Wealden District Council’s costs for breaching a Noise Abatement Notice.
Neighbours complained about the level and frequency of dog barking heard from her property.
The council investigated and advised her how to minimise noise.
A Notice was served on May 2 requiring her to reduce nuisance caused by the loudness, frequency and duration of dogs’ barking.
She was asked to make sure the nuisance did not re-occur.
Although the council continued to work with Ms Lomanto neighbours heard dogs barking all day.
She pleaded not guilty to three offences but ‘loud, persistent and intrusive’ barking noise was recorded. She was found guilty.
