House fire drama in Ripe

BRAVE firefighters tackled a blazing chimney when a house caught fire in Ripe today, January 27.

Four fire engines rushed to the scene at Cleggett’s Farm, Ripe Lane at 12.30pm – following a call at 11.54am.

Fire crews fought the chimney blaze before dealing with the fire on the ground floor in the lounge extension.

Two hose reel jets were used to gush firefighting foam over the flames. Four breathing appartus were also used.

The home owners were out of the home at the time and nobody is believed to have been injured.

The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Incident commander was still at the scene at 2.45pm.
