Sussex Downs College and Lewes Youth Theatre are presenting Arnold Wesker’s ‘The Kitchen’ at The Foundry Gallery in Lewes on Thursday, May 2, and Friday.

Performing Arts and Production Arts students have come together once more to create one of London’s biggest kitchens in the heart of the West End in 1957.

The production features a cast of 20 and a dazzling set built from scratch.

Orders are piling high and the pressure is growing. Chefs, waitresses and porters from all around the world are brought together to satisfy diners. As they flirt and argue through the working day, the heat continues to rise until it reaches breaking point ...

Director Phil Rhodes, Head of Production Arts at Sussex Downs College and founder of Lewes Youth Theatre, said: “Sometimes the right play, cast and production team come together and nothing is ever the same again … this is one of those times and it is an absolute joy to witness students working at this level.”

Performances begin at 7pm on both days at the North Street venue. Tickets and more information can be found online at www.thelytkitchen.info
