AN IMPRESSIVE set of A Level results have been celebrated by students at Hailsham Community College (HCC) this morning, August 16.

The students had a 99 per cent pass rate with 23 per cent achieving the highest grades of A* and A.

Some 60 per cent of students also achieved the university standard of C grade or better.

This will see a large number of them now move on to higher education, according to Phil Matthews, the acting principal.

Mr Matthews said: “The results reflect the tremendous hard work and effort on the part of our students over the last two years. Congratulations to you all.”

Subjects that achieved standout results include English, Maths, Physics, Law and Art, in which two thirds of students received a top grade.

BTEC students (Business, Drama & Sport), achieved ‘extremely highly’ added Mr Matthews.

He said they gained an average grade with the equivalent of C or better - with 43 per cent of grades awarded equivalent to A or A*.

Special congratulations were given by HCC to top achievers: Daniel Winter (ABBC); Hannah White (A*A*B); Hannah Saunders (A*A*D); Dean Piggott (AAAA); Laura Boorman (A*A*B) and Jack Fitch (AABD).
