THE BBC’S Katie Derham swapped the Proms for a prom dress or two when she opened a charity fashion shop in Uckfield.

Katie - the face of the BBC’s coverage of The Proms – was guest of honour at the opening of Simply Fashion, the new St Peter and St James’ Hospice shop in Uckfield High Street.

Simply Fashion stocks top quality fashion and accessories including dresses, separates, hats, shoes and bags, both designer and vintage items. Also on display will be bridal and evening gowns plus men’s evening and formal wear.

The new shop complements the Hospice’s original shop at the bottom of the High Street which was also re-launched.

It now stocks exciting new lines such as educational toys, nursery equipment, linen and items for the garden. It is yet another of a series of charity shops which now specialise in high quality goods, more ‘vintage’ or ‘pre-owned’ than second-hand.

Katie was met by retail head Theresa Wilson, Trustee Peter Boyse, chief executive Colin Burgess and manager Elaine Maddison.
