PROFITS made from the Diamond Jubilee Weekend have been carved up and given out to local good causes in the Polegate parish.

The jubilee organising committee led by Joe O’Riordan decided on five minor donations to supporters of the various events and three major donations to local charities. The Mayor, Cllr Malcolm Cunningham, joined committee members and residents for a presentation event at the Free Church Hall on July 17.

Joe O’Riordan formally gave the Mayor an engraved spade used by The Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex to plant the Jubilee Oak on behalf of the First Polegate Scouts. The spade will be displayed in the council chamber.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice was given £325; Polegate Pre-School Group £250; The Children With Cancer Fund £325 and committee members were given a crystal glass cube laser cut with the Diamond Jubilee emblem.
