Kayaker last seen alive in Newhaven has been identified

The name of the man whose body was found in a kayak on Yaverland beach on the Isle of Wight on Septempber 11 has been released by police.

He was Morgan Savage, 40, from Dublin.

Police had been trying to identify the kayaker who was last seen alive in Newhaven. He had been in Brighton Canoes three days before he was found dead in his kayak on September 11.

Officers had described him as white, with blue eyes, dark hair, nice teeth and described as ‘well built’. He was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket. His kayak was an inflatable yellow and black Sevylor.

The death was being treated as unexplained. A post mortem, which carried out on September 24, was inconclusive. The coroner is awaiting histology results.
