COMPETITORS from the Sky High Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline Club gave their finest performances yet in the Sussex Individual Trampoline Championships at Uckfield’s Fun Abounds Centre on Sunday.
Only the best qualify for national finals and Sky High is proud to have seven club performers qualify this year. The Gala season runs from January to June each year with only six national competitions where the qualifying score for the finals can be achieved. . Entry level on the national circuit is at grade C and certain scores have to be achieved in order to progress from C to B and from B to A. A is the highest grade in the country and only ever achieved by a few.
Elliot Storey has received three promotion offers from B to A during the 2012 season and has as yet, decided not to take up the offers. He has however trialled (sadly pipped to the post) for the European Championships in St Petersburg in April and hopes to represent Great Britain in the Germany Youth Cup in October. This place will be secure if he’s successful at the national finals. Currently number 26 male competitor in Great Britain, this ranking will no doubt rise after the national finals and he has an exciting year ahead of him in 2013.
As with so many amateur sports people, these talented young people and their families are responsible for funding this level of competition themselves. Additionally, they cannot compete without their coaches present, incurring even more expense. The club is also required to supply judges and officials to accompany the Sky High team, which also have to be paid for. Organisers say sponsorship is a means to help if anyone feels they can contribute in this way.
