VISITORS are warmly invited to the Open Studio of Anna Wilson-Patterson in Arts Hut Gallery, Gardner Street, Herstmonceux.
Her exhibition entitled ‘Labour of Love’ features a new body of paintings and prints exploring the haunting landscape between Hastings and Dungeness.
Staying for weeks at a time at Winchelsea, walking the beach at dawn and dusk with her elegant sight hounds, has inspired landscape paintings, dotted with rusty boats and fishing shacks. A number of paintings are inspired by Derek Jarman¹s garden at Prospect Cottage, Dungeness.
Anna¹s exhibition is part of South East Open Studios. For two weeks each June, artists who live in Kent and East Sussex extend an open invitation to visitors to see them at work. The event aims to bring all aspects of visual art and crafts to a wider audience, while at the same time providing an informal network for artists, many of whom work in rural areas. The free guide serves as a year round brochure as many artists open their doors again at Christmas or welcome visitors by appointment after the open studio fortnight.

Arts Hut is open from 9am to 5pm each day from June 3 to June 19 and from 1pm to 4pm on Sundays.
