It was an unexpected sight when the Lady Boys of Bangkok turned up to play a few games with Peacehaven Bowls Club this week.
The Lady Boys, whose show in the Old Steine in Brighton is a popular annual attraction, popped into the club on Wednesday May 14 - but were asked to remove their platform stilettos before they walked on the green.
New mayor of Peacehaven Robbie Robertson suggested the idea to get the group along to the bowls club at Piddinghoe Sports Park.
Cllr Robertson said: “The bowls club were absolutely delighted. There must have been about 150 members all watching the game.
“Some of the club members are going to watch the Lady Boys show but I don’t think they are going to be inviting the bowls club members up on stage!”
It was cllr Robertson’s first official engagement since being elected on Tuesday May 13 and he said it was a good way of drawing attention to Peacehaven.
Some of the players even swapped their match days to watch the show. After the match the players enjoyed tea and biscuits.
According to cllr Robertson, the Lady Boys said they found the game surprisingly difficult.
The Lady Boys’ of Bangkok show Red Hot Kisses is at the Sabai Pavilion, in Victoria Gardens, Brighton, until May 31.
