Lark in the Park in Peacehaven promises a hive of activities

A FREE community festival with sports and activities will be held at Piddinghoe Sports Park in Peacehaven on Saturday July 30.

Fire engines, a climbing wall and a skate board jam, will be just a handful of the dozens of exciting activities that Lark in the Park has to offer.

The event in Piddinghoe Avenue will run from 11am to 5pm.

Other energetic activities include zumba, netball and 20/20 cricket, as well as dog agility, tai chia and tree planting.

There will be a pop up garden, BBC2 Digging for Britain archaeology workshop and swingball.

Healthy living advce, bike maintenance, Dynamo Girls FC, pre-season football friendly and lots of community and information stands.

Event spokesperson Jackie Blackwell said: “We hope that you will all come along and enjoy this fantastic event which is being run by the Big Parks Project in partnership with Peacehaven’s town council, the football, bowls club and skate park.”

Skull Drummery will open the event and Ragroof Theatre Company will lead a tea dance from 2pm-4pm.

Tickets cost £1.50 from the town council or on the day from the info stand.

A graffiti art workshop will be held from 12noon to 3pm where people can make your own graffiti canvas or help to repaint the wall of the skatepark.

There will be a free CTLA shuttle bus – call to book a home pick up on 01273 517332. The bus will be at Kempton House car park on the hour from 11am-2pm.

And there will even be a free creche for under eights.

A bowls challenge will be held from 2pm-4.30pm, where the club is inviting teams of four. Contact Frank Leach at leachf@talktalk.net

There will be a barbecue, African kitchen, ice creams, homemade cakes and licensed bar. There will be free stewarded car parking and secure bicycle parking.

Calling all Cyclists! Why not come and make your bicycle dance with the Dance of the Bike.

Places are limited to only 20 a FREE workshop with 2 x 25 minute performances later in the day.
