A date has been set for late night shopping in Uckfield in the run-up to Christmas.
Plans, announced by Uckfield Chamber of Commerce president David Marshall at last Tuesday’s meeting, are being made for an evening of entertainment on Friday, December 6, and local organisations are being invited to take part.
Mr Marshall, senior partner at Dawson Hart, said clubs or societies wanting to get involved should get in touch with event organiser Mark Arno from Carvills.
Other matters raised included Wealden District Council’s a review of parking. This would take into account the position and impact of the new station car park. A consultation is to be held and a response would be prepared on behalf of the Chamber.
Mr Marshall also said the Chamber executive committee is due to meet next month with Wealden Council’s Cabinet portfolio holder for planning, Cllr Ann Newton, to discuss restrictions on development within 7km of the Ashdown Forest.
About 100 members attended the Chamber meeting which was held at the Buxted Park Hotel. Seven new members were welcomed and introduced their businesses which were: Falcon Wedding Cars from Ringmer; Uckfield Matters, Nutley; Labtech International, Uckfield; Open House Estate Agents, Horam; Flooring/Furniture Doctor, Chailey; Tisshaws Solicitors, Isfield and Avards Artisan Bakery, Uckfield.
