A NEW learning support area opened at St Mary’s School, Maynards Green this summer.
It includes a multi-sensory room, an audio, numeracy and literary base and facilities for meetings.
St Mary’s became a specialised school for behaviour and cognitive learning in 2010 and this is a natural phase of its development.
Teachers understand behaviour often stems from poor self esteem and a low skill base in reading and numbers can make this worse. By having this the school hopes to do more preventative work on low achievement.
This should ensure progress in later school life.
The area was opened by Horam Parish Council chairwoman Marion Shepherd.
