LEISURE CENTRES in Uckfield and Crowborough are challenging local children to stay fit and healthy this summer.
A new Freedom Summer Fitness Challenge aims to motive children to increase their levels of physical activity during the summer school holidays.
Children can emulate the athletes they will watch during London 2012. The Challenge, from July 20 -September 5, is free to all between the ages of four-14. Each child taking part receives a free fitness diary and wallchart and is encouraged to record as much activity as possible during their school holidays.
Everything counts - from cycling and swimming to a game of football or tennis in the park, even walking the dog! For every ten activities they complete, the Centres give them a reward. The aim is to complete 30 over the summer. On the scheme children can collect vouchers for free activities including swimming and a family bowling ticket for use at Hailsham Bowl.
The Challenge was launched on July 14 at the Uckfield Festival Big Day Out but everyone can collect fitness diaries from either centre during the holidays.
