Legoland in the middle of Lewes

The revised design for a proposed budget hotel as published last week in the Sussex Express looks just as though it is a basic construction in Lego.

The first attempt at design was appalling, and although highly recommended by SDNPA planning officers, it was very sensibly, thrown out by the SDNPA Planning Committee. We must now put our trust in the SDNPA planning committee to deal with this second proposal in the same way. Lewes deserves better, and has been described aptly by one planning committee member as ‘The jewel in the crown of the South Downs National Park’. Let’s keep it so.
