Thumbs down for putting new cinema in old postal building

I refer to the article about the proposed cinema complex in the old Postal Building in the former Harvey’s Brewery Depot, in Pinwell Lane.

I think that it is ridiculous to make a large cinema complex here. I feel that the site is not suitable for a multi-screen cinema.

Do we really need a multi-screen cinema?

The situation is a site with very, very restricted access.

The road beside the toilet block is only ‘one car width’ for traffic use.

We already have two functioning cinemas – The Little Theatre and All Saints centre – so I feel that this proposal is quite unnecessary.

It was suggested that parking could be at the station car park. Have you seen just how many motorcars use these car parks during the day and in the evening.

I feel the cinema idea needs very careful and serious thought. If a new cinema is needed it would be more sensible to include it in the new layout in the old Every Iron Works site (Phoenix Centre).

I think it should be ‘Thumbs Down’ for this silly idea.
