Tuesday, August 6, is Hiroshima Day which marks the anniversary of the atomic bomb attacks on Japan.
Lewes CND will be holding its annual commemoration of those who died and all who became ill as a result of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, as well as all those since who have suffered the ill effects of nuclear power.
Chair Susan Murray said: “Whatever you think of nuclear power, you must be moved by the memory of the thousands vaporised in that terrible moment. That is why CND gathers to swear ‘Never again’.”
Floating candles to remember the victims will be launched on the River Ouse under Phoenix Causeway at 8.30pm on Tuesday.
