A company which makes a healthy children’s drink was the winner of a cash prize in a start up business support scheme in Lewes district.
Sarah Hamblin of RahRah Juice in Lewes was given a cheque for £3,000 by the LEAP Kickstart Award at the closing ceremony for the scheme.
The Lewes Enterprise Apprentice Platform (LEAP) is run by Lewes District Council.
Sarah said: “I am over the moon to have won the entrepreneur competition and it has given me the confidence and support to launch my business.
“RahRah Juice is a new and exciting children’s drink which will give parents a healthy alternative and shake up the juice market – launching in the New Year.”
Chair of Lewes District Council Tony Nicholson presented Sarah with the cheque on Monday, December 8, at the ceremony at Newhaven Enterprise Centre.
Since September 13 locally-based aspiring entrepreneurs have been undertaking an intensive programme of training courtesy of LEAP to provide them with the skills and knowledge required to start their own business.
The training and follow-up mentoring has been delivered by Let’s Do Business Group on behalf of LEAP.
Business manager at Let’s Do Business Group, Wes Game, added: “LEAP is a fantastic opportunity for local entrepreneurs to benefit from a tailored training programme to ensure you are ready to start a business in a difficult economic climate.
“I would urge local people to get in touch and see how LEAP could help you make your dream a reality.”
The businesses which entered received a £350 business support package.
They were able to network with other businesses and gave introductions to their companies at the event.
The next LEAP entrepreneur training programme will be launched in early 2015.
