OFSTED has awarded The Old School House Montessori Nursery in Lewes “Outstanding” in all 17 of the categories it uses to assess the quality of a setting.
The report, which followed an inspection of the De Montfort Road premises in mid-March, said that the nursery is exceptional in the extent to which children “achieve and enjoy their learning”, “feel safe”, “adopt healthy lifestyles” and “develop skills for the future”.
This is the highest award it is possible to receive and adds to the “Outstanding” the nursery achieved in 2007/08 and the “Highly Commended” awarded in 2005 (the highest accolade available at the time).
Lindy Baldwin, the nursery’s owner and manager since 2002, said: “Ofsted’s assessment reflects brilliantly on the staff as it highlights the effort they put in to offer children the very best care and education.
“Very few nurseries in Sussex receive outstanding across the board, so we are very proud to be recognised in this way.”
