Lewes Police warn of fake £50 notes

Lewes Police are warning business owners and members of the public to be on their guard following several reports of fake £50 notes received across Sussex districts this week.

There are several signs to look out for to tell if a note is genuine or fake. The Bank of England provides full details of what to look for, which can be found by visiting its website.

Features include a motion thread woven into the paper. It has five windows along its length which contain images of the £ symbol and the number 50. When the note is tilted from side to side, the images move up and down. See the video for what a real note should do.
