Lewes’ Sussex Downs College chief hails ‘outstanding results’

MORE than 1,000 Sussex Downs College students from across East Sussex had reason to jump for joy after receiving their A Level results yesterday (Thursday).

The College celebrated after another successful year with more than 2,400 A Level entries this summer from a range of subjects including accounting to sociology, law to applied art and design.

Sussex Downs Lewes College achieved an A*-E overall pass rate of 99 per cent with 76 per cent achieving the high grades of A*-C.

Sherry Russell, Head of Sussex Downs Lewes College, said: “Lewes students have yet again achieved excellent individual and collective success. Thirty-three students achieved straight A* and A grades in three or more of their A levels and deserve particular congratulation. Vocational students studying for Advanced BTEC qualifications have also excelled with many achieving the highest standard, Distinction* and Distinction. Our students enjoy outstanding teaching at Sussex Downs College in a supportive 6th form environment with a friendly, purposeful working atmosphere. I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our students celebrating success in a range of qualifications this summer and wish them well in their chosen progression pathways.”
