The shortlist for the 25th Sussex Business Awards 2013 has been announced and Lewes-based Cheesmur Building Contractors is amongst the finalists.
Co-owners Terry Nitman and Steve Hayman having been shortlisted for both The Sussex Businessperson of the Year and The Boss of the Year awards.
Cheesmur Building Contractors is one of 35 companies from across Sussex that have been named as finalists for the Awards and is hoping to win one or more of the 15 trophies up for grabs – including the prestigious Sussex Company of the Year and the International Business of the Year.
The year 2013 marks the 25th anniversary of the competition. Celebrating business excellence across Sussex, the Awards is the longest established scheme of its kind in the county and the one that everyone wants to win.
The quality of the entrants has been so high this year that, once again, as well as an outright winner of each category, the accolade of Highly Commended will be awarded to certain outstanding entries.
It is being chaired for the third time by Peter Field, Lord Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, who commented: “We are delighted with the response to this year’s Awards from fantastic businesses across the breadth of Sussex.
“This year’s final decisions were made following some heated debate and the final list really is a fantastic example of the prosperous and highly successful businesses we have here in Sussex. We were particularly delighted to see so much growth in the international category.
“The judges were informed that, in 2012, Sussex Enterprise processed 6,389 export documents for Sussex exporters for 111 overseas markets from Armenia to Yemen.

This year’s ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 5, at the Brighton Dome and will be attended by more than 500 of the county’s leading business people. The awards will be presented by TV personality Rachel Riley, (Strictly Come Dancing, Countdown, The Gadget Show).

Tickets cost £90 each (plus VAT) or £850 (plus VAT) for a table of 10. This includes a champagne reception, three course meal, and two bottles of wine on each table, as well as entertainment, dancing and a few surprises.
