A buzzy afternoon for Chichester park
A swarm of tens of thousands of bees buzzed into a popular city centre recreation ground before setting up home on a park bench.
Gardeners working in the park in New Park Road discovered around 60,000 of the insects on the bench just before midday on June 24 and alerted local beekeeper John Letheren.
Dog walker Anne Scicluna, whose father was a beekeeper, watched as Mr Letheren used a straw 'skep' to collect the bees.
"He encouraged them into the skep – as long as you get the queen you have got them all because they will all follow her," she said.
