Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Polegate that left a motorcyclist seriously ill in hospital.

A red Renault Megane and a Honda motorcycle collided outside the Tesco Express petrol station in Eastbourne Road at 5.40pm on February 7, police said.

The 67-year-old motorcyclist, from Polegate, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he is being treated for fractures to his hip and leg and a bruising to his brain, police said.

Police said the 63-year-old Renault driver, also from Polegate, was not hurt.

PC Michael Dunn said many people would have seen what happened, and is appealing for them to come forward.

He said: “The collision happened during heavy rush hour traffic so a lot of people will have seen what happened.

“Please contact us to tell us what you saw, no matter how small the piece of information you might have is.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1315 of 7/2 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
